Food

Somali food is truly one of a kind and it appeals to all of your senses. Your hands are used as utensils to eat food while the aroma of a traditional dish drags you in. The sizzling noise of lamb liver sautéed with vegetables cooking can satisfy any needy souls' appetite. Your taste buds erupting by the stimulation of your favorite, unique spices that Somali Cuisine has to offer. Heck, even the food colouring that is often applied on rice captures your eyes which then prepares your stomach for a feast!

Personally, the thought of consuming traditional and different Somali Cuisine will be one of the most exciting aspects of this trip. It will be hard to beat Mom's cooking but I love to try different types of food. Food is an important part of Somali culture because it is a time that is often associate with unity amongst people from different walks of life. I will be mostly staying with family and in a case like this it is often considered rude to dine out.
